With the help of our parents, my sister and two friends we got everything moved to our townhome yesterday. We even unpacked the kitchen and put everything away. It was a very productive day and we couldn’t have done it without them!
We brought the cats over after we moved the big stuff and they hid under the bed the rest of the night. Coco eventually came out to explore and Pumpkin did some exploring this morning. I think it will take time before they feel at home and won’t hide under the bed so much.
Last night before we were going to bed I heard Joey say “there’s a mouse in the house”.
I thought he was kidding but he wasn’t.

It was a cute little mousie and Joey was brave enough to catch it and let it go outside.
We have some traps for the mice so I was hoping we wouldn’t find anymore mice but this afternoon Joey found another mouse in the kitchen. I sure hope we don’t find anymore but if we do, Joey better be home to take care of it because me jumping on the bed (or couch) doesn’t help. Maybe the cats will help us out too but I’m not so sure I want to find a tortured dead mouse. Yikes!

When Joey and I bought our townhome we didn’t realize that the bedrooms upstairs didn’t have any ceiling lights. When we turned on the light switches the rooms lit up but I guess we didn’t look at the ceilings.
Anyway. My dad does electrical work on the side so we asked him to put a ceiling light/fan in the bedroom. I had the privilege of helping him do the electrical work and all I have to say is that I do not envy electricians. Working in the attic like that is hard work!
Here is the ceiling light/fan:

While installing the ceiling light/fan my dad said “Since I am already in theĀ attic, do you want me to wire the other two rooms with ceiling lights?”
“How hard would that be?” I asked. “Not hard at all and I have all the wires and boxes I need” he said.
So we had him wire the other two rooms. Here is the light we picked out:

However, in the process of wiring one of the bedrooms my dad was drilling up in the attic and accidentally came through the wall. I was yelling at him to stop drilling but I don’t think he heard me fast enough.

I think he was more upset about the hole than I was. I guess this will be the first room I paint.

Here are a couple of shots of the new carpet before we got things moved in:

Working full-time and preparing to move is exhausting. I have slowly packed the apartment and it now looks like we are living in a storage unit.
The cats are enjoying jumping on the stacks of boxes we have around the apartment. Pumpkin is very curious and likes to “help” me pack. She usually jumps inside the box I am trying to pack or climbs in the cabinet that is hanging open.

Last week I spent 3 1/2 hours cleaning the kitchen at our new place. I thought that would be the best place to start the cleaning process. Man was that a lot of work. Here is a picture of the first entrance to the kitchen:

And here is a picture from the other entrance:

I really wish I had before and after pictures of the refridgerator. It was disgusting but now it looks brand new
.
A couple days later Joey and I tackled the washer and dryer area – it was a mess. Apparently there was a hole in the dryer hose that the previous owner wasn’t aware of (or were they?). Anyway. I wish I had a before and after picture of that to show you. It looks much better now (and the dryer probably works better too – imagine that).
We also replaced the carpet upstairs. The previous owner offered a carpet allowance which was definitely needed. Here are some before pictures:

And the after pictures? Well, you’ll just have to stay tuned.
