Two Months Old
Janene
Today marks two months since E was born. We went to the doctor today and E is healthy and doing well. However, he does have an umbilical hernia which apparently is a very common problem and should go away over time. I’ve noticed that E’s belly button protrudes out a lot (especially when he cries) and after reading a chapter in one of my books (Your Baby’s First Year, Week by Week) I kind of thought it was a hernia. E doesn’t even seem to notice and Dr. Pete said that it is very small. So that is good news.
Dr. Pete gave us his stats compared to babies his age (8 weeks and 5 days) and babies his corrected age (4 weeks and 5 days):
Height: 21.3 inches (4%) (41% corrected)
Weight: 10 lbs 1 oz (17%) (64% corrected)
Head Circumference: 38.2 cm (16%) (63% corrected)
When you look at his corrected stats, he’s right where he should be. Yay! At the end of our visit he got 3 shots. He screamed
but I was proud of myself for not crying. He’s been really sleepy today and will fuss a little more than usual but that’s expected. I am praying that we have a good night tonight.
Here are his two-month pictures next to the bear:

His shirt says “Hello my name is Mr. Adorable” (Thanks Jinger. I was excited when he actually fit in the shirt today).
Some new things he started doing this month:
- Making new sounds
- More alert and awake during the day
- Loves to hold his head up and “climb” up your shoulder – he’s got some strong legs
- Lay on his back and watch himself in the mirror
