Today marks two months since E was born. We went to the doctor today and E is healthy and doing well. However, he does have an umbilical hernia which apparently is a very common problem and should go away over time. I’ve noticed that E’s belly button protrudes out a lot (especially when he cries) and after reading a chapter in one of my books (Your Baby’s First Year, Week by Week) I kind of thought it was a hernia. E doesn’t even seem to notice and Dr. Pete said that it is very small. So that is good news.

Dr. Pete gave us his stats compared to babies his age (8 weeks and 5 days) and babies his corrected age (4 weeks and 5 days):

Height: 21.3 inches (4%) (41% corrected)
Weight: 10 lbs 1 oz (17%) (64% corrected)
Head Circumference: 38.2 cm (16%) (63% corrected)

When you look at his corrected stats, he’s right where he should be. Yay! At the end of our visit he got 3 shots. He screamed but I was proud of myself for not crying. He’s been really sleepy today and will fuss a little more than usual but that’s expected. I am praying that we have a good night tonight.

Here are his two-month pictures next to the bear:

His shirt says “Hello my name is Mr. Adorable” (Thanks Jinger. I was excited when he actually fit in the shirt today).

Some new things he started doing this month:

Making new sounds

More alert and awake during the day

Loves to hold his head up and “climb” up your shoulder – he’s got some strong legs

Lay on his back and watch himself in the mirror

I am hoping that E will learn to hold onto the bear to help keep the pacifier in his mouth. He doesn’t need a pacifier all the time but when he’s really fussy he has a hard time keeping it in his mouth.

He did really well, he only spit up on Joey and not the few people that held him.

Almost everyone that saw him commented on how little he was and I had to laugh because I think he’s big.

Just for comparison’s sake, here is a picture of E taken on July 12th:

And here he is in the same outfit on August 17th:

He’s getting so big! At least I think so anyway.

Earlier this month we received a note on our door from our HOA requesting we stain our deck if we haven’t stained it recently. Last summer we were planning on staining our deck but the weather did not cooperate (it rained a lot) so we put it off for another time and then with the expense of having a baby, we weren’t planning on doing it this summer until we read this:

“On September 1, 2010 the Association will have the decks inpsected. Decks not maintained will be subject to being done by Associations contractor at the owners expense (cost billed to owner will be $550).”

How nice of them to not even give us 30 days notice!

Here is what our deck looked like last year:

Here is what it looked like after day one of staining. We spent 7+ hours and only finished around the railing:

Day two we spent ~3 hours and finally finished:

So it took us a total of 2 days and ~10 hours to stain our deck for a $125.00. Not $550!

Shortly after we had our family pictures taken, we had pictures of E taken by someone that Remember4Ever contracts with (since they no longer have a studio).

She was the most patient and kind person to work with. E was wide awake a majority of our time with her so it was very hard to pose him and/or get the “perfect” picture. After a very long 2 hours, here is some of what we got and I really like them. What do you think?

I just love his face in this picture. I could just eat him up!
